Eclipse Date (AKA Someone Really Loves Me)

We snapped a picture on our front steps before heading to the movie theater. Does my hair look thicker yet? I also wasn’t, um, wearing shimmery lotion that sparkled in the sunshine. I mean, that would be so weird. Mmm hmm. Yeah. Thanks Bath and Body Works.

On a side note, Grams would be proud of my flowers this year. She also would have really liked the movie instead of merely surviving it like my hubby. :)

I was very nervous about getting tickets to Eclipse. We have a certain theater that we like and it has the Mega Screen. I was adamant we were going to see it on the Mega Screen. We bought our tickets an hour early and did our usual walk through the neighboring Humane Society. We like to buy toys there for our pets and honestly, it helps me work through losing our other dog last October. I have had a very difficult time with her death and knowing that there will always be other animals out there that need a loving home helps me know that I never need to have an empty house. Of course, right now our house is anything but empty with all our rescues, but still…

My point is we got back to the theater a half an hour early. We bought drinks, popcorn, and Milk Duds. We could have eaten at Red Lobster for the same amount that we spent. Is it sad that in my mind that counts as a fancy dinner on the town? Anyway, we would normally share a drink and share the spoils of my purse. I like to make sure to have “forgotten” a couple boxes of candy are there. Candy that was bought for 1/3 of the price for the sole purpose of smuggling into the movies. This, however, was a special event. As I’ve mentioned, I love Twilight. And my husband needed as much comfort as possible to make it through the show.

I kept talking about how we were going to get stuck in the first row or how it’d be so packed we wouldn’t even be able to sit together. All morning, he heard this. Through the Humane Society, he heard this. In line for concessions, he heard this.

When we walked into the theater… There sat about 5 other people. FOR THE MEGA SCREEN. Not only is it a giant screen, there are a ton more seats in that particular theater. That made the 5 tiny other people look even smaller. Like a few lights of an airplane flying by in the night sky. I think I may hear about this for a while.

I actually said, “It’s Saturday, on the Mega Screen, and it’s opening weekend. The premier night was sold out. It’s 4th of July weekend. Where is everybody?”

The hubby said, “Yeah, it’s 4th of July weekend.” He was implying everyone was out doing things. Non-Twilight related things.

I still stick with being surprised but okay.

I do not understand why the previews seemed really heavy on Nascar ads. How is this their target audience? Huh? I am so confused. Then I was told they made Paranormal Activity 2 because we all “demanded” it. I sure didn’t. Scary! The preview for a new Bruce Willis movie that featured a gun-wielding Helen Mirren made me super happy. Yes, please. I think my favorite pre-movie entertainment was the Step Up 3 in 3D preview that seemed to never end. I turned to my hubby and said, “See! There are worse things you could watch with me!” It looks like possibly the worst movie ever made. And as someone who has actually seen Step Up 1 and 2 (and someone who never made her husband sit through those winners), this is saying a lot.

We managed to make our way through to the main event. Ah, the staring and angst. The angsty staring.

The husband made it through unscathed (although he did snicker several times and received appropriate knee smacks).

I already can’t wait for the next one! Team Edward! And Team Jacob!

Team Charlie?

Ah, I think I’ve made my point. I heart the Twilight.
